Robert Ian Goodman, Esq. is a practicing lawyer who provides a range of business development and commercial law services to emerging companies and more established foreign and domestic businesses interested in establishing and/or developing their presence in the United States and/or in international markets.
Mr. Goodman is currently Special Counsel to the New York City based international boutique law firm, Sharma & DeYoung LLP ("S&D"), where he co-chairs the firm's Technology & Emerging Companies Practice Group. He also heads that firm's Complex Immigration & Consular Practice Section and is a member of S&D's Commercial Litigation & Arbitration Practice Group.
In addition to serving as Special Counsel to S&D, Mr. Goodman is also principal of Goodman Immigration Law - a separate firm - that focuses specifically on complex commercial immigration matters involving multinational companies and investors.
Finally, Mr. Goodman represents selected clients with a broad range of legal services needs. He currently serves as general counsel to a software development firm, two financial services firms, and an expanding regional restaurant corporation. He is also principal legal advisor to a number of entrepreneurs operating at various levels of business development. He is global immigration counsel to an array of multinational and foreign businesses and regularly consults with clients on international law and litigation risk-management related issues. He has over twenty years commercial litigation and arbitration experience.
Mr. Goodman graduated from Tufts University, Medford, MA, USA, Summa Cum Laude, Phi Beta Kappa, in 1986, Columbia University School of Law, NY, NY, USA, in 1990, and is admitted to practice law in the State of New York and the District of Columbia.
